In can’t delete the comments box. I’m building a website? I have followed the directions, however still no luck?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – For each post or page that you’d already published before you turned off comments, you’ll have to edit that post/page individually and remove them as described here:

Thank you for your reply Eurello, however this does not work. I don’t even get this option? On the discussion settings I get the long list of editing options except this option. I have tried it several times?

Can you suggest a theme comparable to misty lake that allows for a large header pic. and a featured image as well?

It’s not in Discussion settings. Rather, it’s below each post or page; for example here:
https://staugustinekayak.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=56&action=editIf you don’t see the Discussion module, click the Screen Options tab in the upper right-hand corner of that same screen, and make sure the box is ticked next to “Comments.”

I see you’re using Book Lite now – that’s a good choice. Here’s a link to all themes with Custom Headers and featured image support.

Well it worked on one page, however it will not work on the other two? There has to be an issue with word press? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for your help!

Hi there – It’s the same on all posts/pages. Can you please link me directly to the post or page where you’re unable to turn comments off?

Also is there any way to crop the featured image? When you set the pic. it posts zoomed in way to much. You can’t see the picture?
I have used word press before on my other site kayakingstaugustine.com
however never had this much difficulty. I’m still learning. I don’t want a blog. Thanks!!! -
Hi there – You had the discussion module turned off. I’ve turned it on for you, so you should see it on those pages: https://cloudup.com/c5TKCBBx2Nz
Just uncheck both those boxes and update, and repeat that for each page where the comment form appears.

Book Lite is meant to have a large header image, 1440 × 500 pixels. You can crop the image prior to uploading it, or you could try a similar theme with a smaller header image area:

Thanks Eurello. The site/theme has no problem posting the pic. as a header. I do prefer a large header. My pics. are 16mp and blow up nice, however I would prefer to have a specific pic per that activity page instead of random headers. That’s the problem I have with misty lake. Anyway if you can think of a way to make it work please let me know, otherwise I will just stick to the large header pic. I feel they capture the attention. Thanks you soooo much!!!!

Hi there – There are a few themes that let you set a featured image that is then pulled for an individualized header banner when you click that particular post. You can browse them here to see if there’s any you like:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/featured-image-header/I’m not positive whether any of them do that for static pages, or if it’s just for posts. I know that Twenty Eleven also lets you upload multiple header images and choose ‘random’ and it shows a different one on each load:
