I'm confused on Domains and Registering

  I do not know rather I should go elsewhere outside of wordpress.com to actually purchase my ‘****.com’ or just upgrade on here. I want the flexibility of placing videos and possibly earn revenue through my website and do not want limitations. However, I have already started my blog on wordpress and just want to keep the name but without the wordpress but mainly NO limitations. Can anyone explain the difference if I were to purchase or register my domain with ‘Go-Daddy’? I saw they were alot cheaper. Also once I register with Go Daddy would I then own that domain or do I need to purchase another ‘thing’??? I am so confused please HELP! Been confused for a while now don’t know which direction to head in.

  You can upload your videos to YouTube/Vimeo and embed that into your posts. Or, you can upgrade to WordPress.com Premium or Business plans and upload videos directly to your site.

  Sorry, if you want no limitations to be placed over your blog, you should self-host your site. WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress are not the same. More info in what’s different – https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  Both mean the same in a way. You can purchase the domain name for once and register it for nearly upto 10 years at one go on GoDaddy.

  Yes, you will own that domain. But, you should also purchase a hosting plan to host your site.

  Yeah, I agree. Most newbie users find it very difficult to host their own site. That’s the reason why we have WordPress.com to help them get started.
