I'm having comment notification problem! please help?

    I am not receiving emails about comments or notifications on my phone as i have the app. I have gone over the email settings a dozen times but every time i look through the akismet bit it says i have comments and im having to sort through it all. Ive followed all the advice in the help section, followed instructions from the site but im still getting nothing except notifications for likes, blog followers, but nothing for comments.

    Hi there. I had a quick look at some of your posts and the first comment on this post: http://sammiegirl88.wordpress.com/2014/07/20/comments-to-myself/ is a spam comment. I get comments like that all the time. It’s what we call human-generated spam. How do I know it’s spam? It offer vague praise of your blog but has no relevance to any post on your blog. I can assure you “Ganhe um fantástico produto Apple!” is NOT a real WordPress.com user and Akismet send thousands of comments like that into oblivion daily. The same goes for ALL the comments you approved on http://sammiegirl88.wordpress.com/2014/07/02/gotta-love-grandparents/#comment-6 They are spammers, every one of them. Trust me on this.

    You’re not getting comment notifications because you’re not getting real comments. The comments flagged by Akismet are Spam and unless a reader contacts you and tells you their comments are not showing up you don’t even have to look there. In over two years of blogging Akismet has only caught one real comment in my blog, while catching thousands of rubbish comments like you’re now approving. Please mark those comments as Spam again or you’ll soon be overwhelmed by Spam.

    Make sure that notifications for comments are selected under Settings ->Discussion. And then be patient. Your blog is not even two months old. Readers will come and with them real comments. Please don’t start approving spam comments just to have some comments on your site.

    Read this articles about how Akismet works. Then you’ll hopefully understand what I mean with human spammers.

    P.S. When I say I get comments like that all the time, I mean my spam filter catches comments like that all the time. Hundreds of them every week.
