I'm having trouble linking "About" to my profile because I used a standard page.
-
I posted my first blog and I guess I inadvertently used a promo page from WordPress to post it on — anyway I have a nice picture at the top that I would like to keep. To the right at the top it says “Just another WordPress blog” which I don’t need but don’t mind too much. But the main problem is that when you click on “about” you don’t get my profile so how do I fix this? Do I have to copy the blog into a new page?

The About page you’re referring is actually just a sample page. You can edit it and fill in whatever you’d like, or just deleted it.
As for “Just another WordPress blog,” you can adjust that by editing your Tagline in the Settings section of your blog’s Dashboard.
