I’m locked out of my site by https instead of http!
-
In process of trying to fix this ongoing ‘updating failed’ problem, I followed some forum advice on changed http to https in Settings –> General. Now I’m locked out of my WordPress.org site entirely. Can’t get into it at all b/c it loads using an https URL, when the site is evidently still an http site.
How do I get back into my site now?
When I do, how do I solve the ‘updating failed’ problem? I’ve tried Healthcheck plugin (nothing), deactivating all plugins (no change), & a few other basic fixes. I’m not a programmer & don’t know how to mess with JSON queries or rewrite my back-end files (I wouldn’t even know where to find those).
HELP!

Your issue is with self-hosted WordPress, issue related to these get resolved better in WordPress.org’s forum.
This is WordPress.com’s support forum.Anyway here is one easy way you can fix the issue.
Log in into your hosting control panel, look for php my admin and open that then login to your database open the database (you may see multiple databases if you have mutiple websites in the same account). Open that and look for wp_options table. Open the table look for option name siteurl and home click the respective edit button and change the https back to http. This will solve your issue. You may find this picture helpful.
In case you need help in logging in into your database, feel free to contact your Web Host.

Yes, I was having considerable trouble logging in and posting a query on WP.org support forums & somehow found my way here. But posting to WP.org support seems to be a separate issue that I’m resolving on my end.
Thank you for the fix with the control panel. Worked perfectly and I’m back into the site. The picture did help. Thanks SO much.
