I have a few matters I’d like to be addressed, and I’m hoping to have them all discussed in the comment section below. This way the discussion will always remain open, and I’ll be advised of anytime someone is willing to lend me a helping hand. All thanks in advance. Here goes, in no particular order:
1.) Uploading and streaming audio is prominent on our site, but a good portion of readers check our updates from their phone. How go I get a hold of an audio player that allows music to be easily heard on mobile devices?
2.) While I actually do enjoy the theme we’re currently using, I’d like to have a unique theme created for the site — new colors, custom-sized columns, and all that ill type stuff. Please point me in the right direction. And note that I know less than nothing about CSS.
3.) The Echo Chamber Blog = TECB. We pay WordPress.com our rent money every year like good blog tenants to insure that TheEchoChamberBlog.com remains the name of our site. However, we’d also like to get a hold of TECB.com. But, as you can see, the site already exists; It is hosted by WordPress.org and hasn’t been touched since it was first started in ’07. The site notes that its content should reflect “stories from a life around the world,” but tells no stories, links visitors to a shady-looking travel site, and has only one comment — which is spam. Essentially, the whole site is spam. Normally I’d be fine with someone (you know, like a real person) beating me to the punch like this, but I doubt the dipshit that started TECB.com even remembers the site exists. There’s probably thousands of sites like this, and it’s unfair to withhold sought-out domain names from the people who actually update their site(s) regularly. What needs to be done for us to obtain TECB.com?
4.) Lastly (for meow), when you search the website — like this — I’d like to have all the posts show with the video/photo still at the top of each post. I’ve asked in the WP forums before and tried all of the suggestions given to me but nothing seemed to work. Any new suggestions to make this easy for us?

I’m sorry but we Volunteers are not inclined toi click shortened links. Most often they lead to spam sites, malware sites, attack sites, or they turn out to be members using them to attempt to generate clicks on their blogs.
Also note that we Volunteers do not provide email support so it’s wise to use the RSS feed link in the righthand sidebar to subscribe to the threads your create.
Please clearly state exactly what you need help with now.

I see you have a raft of tags in the sidebar here including CSS.
We cannot add themes at wordpress.COM, we are limited to the themes found in the dashboard under appearance > themes. Themes found on the internet are for self-hosted wordpress blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

You can share audio on your WordPress.com blog in a variety of ways. Note that, if you wish to upload audio files from your own computer, you will need to purchase the Space Upgrade. Re: Domain mapping
On WordPress.com, you can use a custom domain for your blog, such as example.com, instead of the default address you get when you sign up, like example.wordpress.com. This is called Domain Mapping, and it’s a paid upgrade: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/
Also note that each upgrade applies only to a single blog for one year when it must be renewed. Same Rules Apply – Purchasing an upgrade does not enable the permission to use advertising, any kind of prohibited code, or upload additional themes or plugins. With the upgrade, your blog will still be hosted here at WordPress.com, which means that you will not have FTP access to your files and you will still be required to abide by our Terms of Service.

i’m far from a spammer, and my agenda was to get help. did you even read the questions i asked? i pay this place to host my site, make one little honest “mistake,” and my concern as a WP.com user is automatically rendered to nonsense? read my opening sentences as to why i asked the questions on my site. i did it so it would never be closed, like what happens to many threads in the forum. it’s easier for me to keep track of them that way. also, i wasn’t aware that i’m not allowed to drop shortlinks to my site in the support forms.
and, timethief, while i do appreciate what help you’ve offered me, your “as if” is the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever read. i’m entitled to post about my site in the showcase forum just like anyone else. if what i post about isn’t your cup of whatever snobby tea it is that you drink, then move on and stop trying to discredit me. my questions were serious.

so is this forum not a proper place to seek help in? i asked questions that i’m genuinely looking for answers to.
i have the audio upgrade, and stream music regularly. i want it to be able to be heard on mobile devices.
tecb.com is an actual SPAM SITE. is there anything/anyone to help me with that matter?
i have no css experience, and would be hesitant to spend my money on the upgrade. honestly, i’m scared i’d mess the site up. and i don’t want to spend $ in doing so.
the search options concern of mine was a forum topic before. what was suggested never worked. anything new for me to try?

We cannot help you with this. Provided the owner of the domain keeps renewing the domain name and provides his own hosting for it or keeps paying a web hosting service to we host it, it’s the owner’s site and he/or she can do as they wish with it.

WordPress.ORG does NOT provide web hosting services. All they rprovide is free wordpress software installs for self hosting.

Where you place the videos in posts is up to you. How search results will be displayed in wordpress.com search results is a matter for you to discuss with Staff. Inother words, we Volunteers answering question here cannot help with this.

In the majority of themes, posts in category or monthly archive pages show up just as they do in the main posts page. Chris, in regards to getting the tecb site…
Maybe if you back order it, maybe just maybe you might have a chance in getting it and making it a real site. Looking it up, it’s renewal is sept of this year, maybe you could get it.
I hate it that 1000’s upon 1000’s of sites are just bs sites but tis what the internet is sometimes. -
tecb.com is NOT owned by wordpress.ORG. It is a self-hosted, completely autonomous blog owned by a private person or company. They live in Norway. They registered that name in 2003 and have kept it current and in their possession ever since that date. See this whois search for the registered owner of that domain name.

re: your statement that while you know nothing about CSS, you would prefer a custom-designed site. Well, your options are: 1) learn CSS and design it yourself or 2) pay someone. What’s the actual question you have about this?

TSP, I had looked at the whois and that was why I had posted that suggestion and put “maybe just maybe” in my reply. I wasn’t too confident on it but it seemed like an issue that the original OP thought was important along with everything else under this thread. Thanks for posting the whois link since I didn’t. :)
