I’m missing the SSL certificate

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve had my website for about a year and am finally on the edge to go live with my small freelance business. Before I do so, I need my website to be safe for visitors, which means I need the ‘s’ in my ‘http’.
I’ve tried researching only to find out, that there’s so many suppliers of the SSL-certificate, but at the same time it seems, that it may come with a bought WordPress website. So my question is, how do I simply apply the Secure Sockets Layer to my website?

  • Hi there,

This is something that needs to be configured on your site’s server, so you need to contact support at your hosting provider for help with their specific process for doing this.

The forum you’re posting to now is for the hosting provider, WordPress.com. All sites hosted on our servers have HTTPS enabled by default, so there’s no manual certificate installation process with us.

For general help with the open source version of WordPress you’re using on your site, you can ask the WordPress.org community, who make that software, in their forum at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
