  So, I want to began my first blog and my goal is to continue this project, long-term. Now, I know I am using the free version for Word Press; If I decide to upgrade is it available? What are the packages?

  Also, if I want to, in the future, self-host my blog, am I able to do so?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Before you decide to self-host your blog I would check out this guide that helps you determine if you need to self-host. If you decide that you do want to self-host then you could use the Guided Transfer to transfer your WordPress.com site to a self-hosted WordPress.org site.
