I’m new – my blog URL does not work – why?
-
I ave a new URL. I have copied it, typed it..etc. and all I get is “Not found”. Any help out htere?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Is the blog in question the one linked to your username? http://joanandtherese.wordpress.com/
If not, then how can we help you if we do not know what the URL is?
-
BTW the blog linked to your username is returning a “404” page not found because you deleted the placeholder “Hello World” post. When you create and publish a post that error message will no longer appear.
-
Yes, thank you. It is that blog: http://joanandtherese.wordpress.com/.
I did post a test and I can see that the error went away. But is that page all anyone is going to see? How can people go in and look at different categories? All I am getting is that very generic page.
Sorry, I don’t really know how to even ask the question.
Thanks for the help!

Until you actually publish a post with a Category assigned to it the Categories widget will not have data to display. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/categories-widget/

Re: widgets. Please read > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/09/28/the-no-widgets-paradox/
My suggestion is that you start here >

How do I get page like yours? With pictures and such – it looks like a web page. Mine is just a box.
I must admit I am lost. I thought blogs could be like websites (like yours).
Sorry for the ineptitude – but I want a site that sparkles – not that thing I have now
I really appreciate your help

Do understand that blogs are not designed to have a Page based structure. They are designed to have a post based structure. Static Pages are meant to be used for content that rarely, if ever, changes. Please read the differences between static Pages and Posts before you proceed any further http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/
See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

Posts are entries that display in reverse chronological order on your blog’s front page. Posts are included in category lists, archives, and feeds. Posts are always associated with a date, which is included in the URL.

Here’s where you can go to choose a theme for your blog > Dashboard > Appearance > Themes
Here’s where go to set up widgets in your sidebar > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets
