I can’t upload photos to my blog. Uploading to the draft page is easy enough but when I preview there is only half the picture. On my first post it cut my head off. Can you help with very simple instructions in layman’s language.

Hi there!
What you are trying to do can be quite confusing so I understand the difficulty here.
You are using the featured image which automatically crops the picture to be a rectangle. So that is where the problem arises. You can fix this two ways:
1. Insert your own image in the post itself instead of using the featured image option. This should show the way you want it to.
2. You can edit your image so it works better with the featured image auto crop:
From the WP Admin dashboard go to pages.
a.) Go into edit the page with the picture you want to change.
b.) Click on the “Featured Image” which will display on the rightmost column.
c.) Your current image should be selected in the window that pops up. On the righthand side you will see just below the image date and size an “EDIT” option. Click that.
d.) You’ll now need to crop the image, which is a bit tricky. You can just click on the image and drag the box that appears so that it includes the area that you want to be cropped. It’s hard to explain, but you’ll need to click and hold down and drag your mouse to cover the area you want to remain. Try it a few times and you should get it.
e.) You’ll need to make the image into more of a rectangle. You can experiment with a few different crops until you get one that you like. But know that the Featured Image is going to take a rectangle from the center of the image. So if you want the image to be more toward the top you’ll need to crop off the bottom so that top become more towards the center.
f.) Once you have the box where you want it select the crop button at the very top left above the picture.
g.) Select “save”.
h.) Select “set as featured image”.
i.) Check to make sure it looks the way you want.Let me know if you have any issues with these steps!
