I’m not getting a response from either site (.com & .org)

Please help. I signed up with wordpress.com and don’t want that blog anymore. Instead I want to sign up with wordpress.org and have requested the “install for free” service and am not getting my confirmation email. I also need to know how to “delete” my blog with wordpress.com entirely. I’m so frustrated about this and needing a reply from someone soon to help me out so that I can get started on creating my blog. Thank you.

You sign in to WordPress.com and under Settings you hit “Delete this blog”. Be aware there is absolutely NO going back, no using that name at WP.com again, no archive, nothing. Gone is gone.
As for WP.org, we can’t help you with that. You’re on your own over there, but do check your junk mail folder.

now, i did read somewhere that i should have a new blog set up first before i delete an existing one. is this correct?

It’s good advice. Do you want to move the stuff from .com to .org? You can’t do that until the .org one is up and running and you can’t do it if the .com one is dead already. Having both up for a couple of days while you make sure everything is moved over is a wise idea.

I just signed up for WP.com last night and didn’t do a thing to it…so, does this mean I should be fine with deleting it now? In other words, is content the only concern because I don’t have any.

Why do you want to delete it? If there’s no content, why not just leave it there?
Once you delete, neither you nor anyone else will ever be able to use that wp.com name again. So it makes more sense to leave it there just in case one day you do find that you want it after all. There’s nothing to gain by deleting and nothing to lose if you don’t.
