Im not the administrator of my one webpage

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi!
I used to have (what I thougt was) two individual webpages (one old and one new) with two mail adresses. As i wanted to delete one page (the old) included the (old) mail adress, i switched the mail adress on the page I wanted to keep (the new). I then deleted the old web page and mail adress.
Now it turns out that the old page was administrating the new one. I can still log in, and the webpage is out there, but im not able to see anything more than ‘readers’ from the old page, and my own account (user name and so on).
Now im freaking out because im loosing my webpage AND domain. And of course I can make a new one, but then this one will be out there for eeeeevvvvver….
Screaming ‘heeelp’, with my bad english writing, all the way from Norway.

    Hey miriamchantals,

I am tagging this as “modlook”. Please for a while until a staff member checks your account.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

Referring to “old page/new page” makes it very difficult to help you. Can you please provide specifics?

I used to have (what I thougt was) two individual webpages (one old and one new) with two mail adresses.

Email address on WordPress.com are not specific to sites. They’re specific to username accounts. So if you have been using different emails for those sites it means they belong to different accounts.

I then deleted the old web page and mail adress.

Deleting a site does not delete the account that owns it and does not remove the associated email address from our system.

Now it turns out that the old page was administrating the new one. I can still log in, and the webpage is out there, but im not able to see anything more than ‘readers’ from the old page, and my own account (user name and so on).

A page cannot administrate another page. Only an account can. And your site, miriamchantal.com, belongs to a different account than the one you’re using to post here.

To access that site’s dashboard you need to log in as the username, chantalsogaard. And for what it’s worth, I see no recent email changes on that account, I see no recent sites deleted from that account, and I see no changes in which users have admin access to that site – since its creation a year ago the user, chantalsogaard, has been the only admin on that site, and the account you’re using to post here has never had access to it, so no changes you made to this account could affect that site in any way.

This was very helpful. The key here var the username, and i feel really stupid… I made it difficult for my self by having different accounts and webpages. But your answer cleared it all up. Im so happy I dont have to tear of my own hair anymore. Sometimes a good night sleep and asking for help is the best solution :)

    Best regards Chantal
