I'm trying to add a PayPal button
-
Hello,
I’ve been trying for the last week or so to add a PayPal donate button to my blog. I’ve read all that the Information and seen all the tutorials on WordPress and PayPal. After the button is added to a page and as a widget, the code never takes the individual to My PayPal or any…. It’s just usually is a blank page or says it cannot find the https. I wonder if I have to upgrade my PayPal account in some sort of way? Please help me with any ideas and tools since I’m at the point of frustration.
Blessings, -M

Hi!
Are you following the instructions here?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
There are quite a few tutorials out there for self-hosted sites that will not work on WordPress.com. Please give those instructions one more try and let me know if they work!

Hello!
Thanks for your reply and help with this problem. I have used that tutorial many time and did it one more time as requested.
When someone clicks on the button(s), it still leads them to a blank page. I have left the button(s) up this time. There is one button in a widget, and one on a page (that I plan to modify later).
Thanks, -M

Hi!
It looks like the link you’ve entered needs a bit of adjustment. Currently, you have the following in the widget:
http:/https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=********&lc=US¤cy_code=USD&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3abtn_donate_LG%2egif%3aNonHostedThat double “http” is messing us up. Can you replace that with the following?

Thank you, it worked!
The problem was when it prompts us to add a link , after clicking on the button, it already had ‘https” in the margin. Appreciate your help on this but i have a few more questions.
When we copy the button from paypal…. do we HAVE TO use the email version? I ask because people who don’t know my email may be unsure of who they are donating too.
I guess I could always add my email address to my site, but don’t know if that i a good idea?
At least the major portion is over, so thank you very much!

One last thing, I tried to change my email addy under my Gravatar so people can confirm that it’s me when donating to paypal. So i tried to change it from an old address to a different one, and it’s still showing the old one. Any ideas?

You will need to use the email version on WordPress.com. You could definitely add your email to the site, but I think that if a user is clicking on the PayPal button from your site, they already likely know who you are so I don’t think it’s necessarily a huge deal.

Just to confirm, you’re trying to change the email address here correct?
http://en.gravatar.com/grapho13
It looks like that’s currently pointed to a Gmail address. Is that the one you’re looking for?

Yep. It’s shows (email visible only to moderators and staff) and when I log in it shows (email visible only to moderators and staff), which is the one that I want to show. But it’s still showing the grapho13 instead….. I’ve tried to change it and still showing the wrong addy.

Howdy!
Can you try changing your contact information here?

Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll want to change (use the small “x” to erase your current email):
