  I’m trying to change x.wordpress.com to a new name like y.wordpress.com but the problem is an error occurs.

  Please let us know what your current WordPress.com address is and what you want it to be.

  Note that to change a blog URL ending in wordpress.com, you can follow these steps. Another alternative is to purchase a custom domain name to take “wordpress” out of the domain altogether.
