I'm trying to change my username and it says it's taken, but it isn't

    I am trying to change my username. It says that this username is taken. When I go to the url it says that the website is no longer available and that the authors have deleted the site. Does that mean I can not change my url even though that one has been deleted?

    Yep. Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to reuse its WordPress.com address.
