I'm trying to import my old blog to new one. I have major issues, please help!!

I’m trying to import my old blog Wind It Up to my new one, called Kosmemurut. I’m Finnish. It says that it’s happening, I get all the ‘import successfully’ e-mails but still nothing is there :O Please help! What’s happening!?! I have my whole old blog on a xml. – file, it imports but still it’s not imported :o I’m so confused! I have to start this new Kosmemurut – blog soon and I have to import the old blog there, otherwise I will lose all of it.

Hi there,
I checked your import status and there is nothing pending. Can you try importing the file once more? What blogging platform are you importing Wind It Up from?
If it still doesn’t work, I will contact you for the XML file and see if I can process the import successfully on my end.

Yep, I got this e-mail:

but nothings there. Is my file empty for some reason..?

What is the size of the XML file, please?
Is the site you have the XML export file from still online?
If yes, what is the URL?Sometimes the importer gets stuck. If the file is large you may have to import Posts, Pages, etc. in separate files. Or if the file is very large Staff may have to do the import.

I actually have 2 files. I had a help desk person on my old blog (Wind It Up), who gave them to me. He tried to help with this but nothing. I’ve tried with both of these files many time to import them. One is 30,5kt and other one 15,4kt. 15,4kt is the one I just recently tried to import.
My old blog – the one I’m trying to import – is online on the end of this month (August). It’s http://winditupblog.purkkimafia.fi/
First I tried to import only one month at a time and that seemed to work, but it’s so slow and I have a lot of content (on Wind It Up). Maybe the file is just too large?

@winditupblog, thanks. We were able to use the import files you have, so we’ll try those.
In the meantime, can you also try getting a “clean” export too, just in case? This time remove any unmoderated/spam comments first. You will also want to be sure the images at your old host are accessible. Let me know when you have that.

I’m sorry to ask, but what do you mean by “clean export”..? Exporting a month full of posts from Wind It Up to Kosmemurut? I’ll try at, right now :) Let’s see :)

I have a file from my ex-help desk, that should hold all my images. He said that if I import that xml. – file the pics should import with that. But I think I have them on their own file :)

Oh I just mean you need to clear out any spam comments first. Go to your comments section and clear out any garbage that’s there, especially if there’s a lot.
We did finish your import for you though. Do you see your posts now at wordpress.com/posts ?
Can you also click into your media area to be sure your images are there?

Oh yes, I cleared all my spam comments!
Unfortunately not :( There are only the 16 posts, that I have imported myself (one month at the time) :/
And my Media are is empty too, there is just 4 images :/

Okay. With the spam and unmoderated comments all taken care of, go ahead and make a new export file. We’ll contact you via email so you can send it to us.
