    I’m trying to transfer my domain name but SiteGround and Godaddy are saying it’s taken. Can you please release it so I can get it?

    Hi there,

    You should never cancel a domain when you plan to use elsewhere. You should have transferred or mapped that domain instead.

    However, since you canceled it within 24 hours of registration it will be released in 5 days and then you’ll be able to register it again.

    Thanks. I keep trying to purchase it on go daddy but it hasn’t been released yet. I don’t want to take a chance of it getting taken. Can you somehow let me know the moment it’s released?

    How do you map a domain? I tried to get InGround to hold it but they said they can’t.

    CAN YOU PLEASE HOLD MY DOMAIN NAME? I BUILT MY SITE AROUND IT AND PUT A LOT OF WORK INTO IT.

    NO ONE TOLD ME HOW TO HOLD IT. I’VE BEEN TRYING TO GET IT AT NAME CHEAP SEVERAL TIMES A DAY AND WORDPRESS HAS NOT RELEASED IT.

    Hi therenegadesaints,

    I’VE BEEN TRYING TO GET IT AT NAME CHEAP SEVERAL TIMES A DAY AND WORDPRESS HAS NOT RELEASED IT.

    The domain been cancelled and is in the process of being released. This process takes 5 days from the point it was cancelled and will continue to show as unavailable during this time.

    We don’t receive a notification when domains are released so I recommend you keeping checking to when it has become available again. It can then be re-registered through any domain provider you like.

    It’s not possible to reserve a domain and register it elsewhere. A domain will only become available once it has been released — which is why it is better to transfer rather than cancel a domain.

    How do you map a domain?

    You mentioned transferring the domain to SiteGround or GoDaddy so domain mapping won’t do what you are looking for in this case — domain mapping connects an existing domain to a site hosted on WordPress.com.

    There isn’t a list of previously used themes in your account but I can give you that information. Baskerville 2 is the last theme you activated on therenegadesaints.wordpress.com and Argent before that.
