    I’m confused as to Word Press and WP Engines. Why do I need to transfer DNS or make configuration changes if I want to keep using WP Engines

    Hello there,

    So there are two types of WordPress.

    The first is WordPress.com (which is sites hosted here, and supported via live chat, email and these support forums.) The second is self-hosted WordPress, whereby third parties host WordPress sites, after downloading WordPress from WordPress.org.

    The two are considered separate and more on them can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    WP Engine using self-hosted WordPress – you may wish to check with them as to what they require in order to use the domain with their installation.

    I hope this clears up any confusion.
