Currently all upgraded plans need to be paid for annually in advance I’m afraid. There used to be a monthly option but I don’t think it was too popular as it worked out to be much more expensive in the long term.

Hey Dan!
WordPress doesn’t offer a monthly option, only yearly subscriptions. The plan is renewable annually. The most inexpensive plan WordPress offers is the starter plan for $60 a year. You can learn more about it here:
https://wordpress.com/support/starter-plan/There isn’t a limit on how long you are able to use the WordPress free plan which you have been using now.
Please also note that if you ever decide to upgrade and are unhappy with the service, you have the option to get a refund within 14 days of purchase or renewal (96 hours for custom domains).

Hi there,
Some revisions were made a while ago. The monthly plan has been discontinued at the moment.Reasons for this change were made public in the discussion forum. You could find it here:
https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/pricing-feedback/WordPress.com currently offers free and pro plans. You could also learn how these plans work and what you get with each plan here:
