image and related text on different pages.

After having been searching around for 2 days I must post my request here.

I would like to have an Images Gallery on a page and the related texts/description on another page. Is it possible? ( I:E. : I clicking on a photograph should lead to a text on another page inside the blog).

I have tried in so many different ways but I am not an expert, sorry.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you mean the WP “Gallery” feature, no. With a collection of independently uploaded and inserted images, yes. Please link to the pages in question so I can see what exactly you have in mind and tell you what you need to do.

I am still on testing the Gallery feature, couldn’t build any page to show you as example, because they were not what I want.

I try to explain further: if I upload a picture on a post or page, the description/text appears in the same post/page.

What I wish to get is the description to appear in another page when I click the picture.

thanks for replying I just started to build the blog.

As I already said, that’s not possible with the Gallery feature. Each gallery thumbnail can only link to either a so-called attachment page with a larger version of the image (plus previous/next navigation thumbnails), or to the fullsize uploaded original alone. To make the images link to specific spots on another page, you need to modify the html code of each image, so you need independently uploaded and inserted images.

By the way, what shows up “in the same post/page” is the image caption (if you have added one), not the image description. The description shows up on the attachment page.

And please correct your username link: the blog originally linked to it has been deleted.

You can have explanation text on attachment pages.

Add your gallery. Then in the media library fill in the “description” line with the text you want.

The description box is only 3 lines tall and it must be written in html, it’s easier to write in a draft post (visual ediitor or html editor), then copy the html into the box.

I don’t know how to open the attachment page in a new window, you can navigate between pictures and back to the original post.

Here is an example of the description in use. Note that my pictures are not in a gallery but they are set to open an attachment page the same way pictures in Gallery open in attachment pages.

    @pdora

I see a picture on that blog, with a description in reddish type below. When I click on the image, it opens as a large image with no description.

Did we misunderstand what you want to accomplish?

I showed you how to make gallery images open as attachment pages which include a descriptions of each picture. Attachment pages can be odd (they are pages in your blog but you can’t edit them for one thing)
Panos is offering to explain how to make an array of individual thumbnail images open in another “page” on your posts if that is what you want.

By the way, your image is huge! 4256px by 2832px!!! You should compress image files for the web so they will load more quickly and also so you don’t waste your media storage space. Timethief has some articles about how to compress your pictures:

    You are welcome!
I agree that getting the pictures to a reasonable size is a priority.
