Image block image fields seem incomplete

In the Media Library, images have the following fields to complete:
Title, Caption, Alt Text, and Description.

When loading an image directly in the post (Image block), the only fields available are Alt Text and Caption.

I would love to see the Title and Description fields available so I don’t have to upload to the Library first, then to the Image Block.

My habit has been to upload directly to the post to complete all the fields but with the new image block, two fields are missing.

Will the Dev Team consider giving back those fields so we can skip the step of loading to the Media Library first?

Oh, and it would be really nice if the info entered in the fields via the Image block flowed back to the Library. I notice that if I upload to the image block first and complete the fields, then go back to the Media Library to complete the missing fields, that the Alt Text doesn’t flow back to the Library.

Can you make this happen for us?

I have an image file I would love to upload to show you what I mean about the Title field.

But hopefully, this explanation will also help.

When you click the Edit pen on the image via the Classic Editor, you have choices to fill out Alt text and below that in the Advanced options, you get the Image Title Attributes that allows text to appear when hovering over the image. But if you click the pencil icon of an image in Gutenberg, it takes you back to the media library, so you have no other options.

  • Hi there,

This is something that has to be added by the WordPress.org team who makes this editor. I’m adding your request to the issue already open for this in https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/11054, but I cannot give you a timeline on when it might be added.
