Image Border help

  • Unknown's avatar

    So the question is fairly simple. First, here’s one of my blogs galleries: http://steigerwaldsource.wordpress.com/gallery-2/covers/aspen/aspen/

    My question is, how do I reduce the amount of buffer (the gray area below the image? There’s entirely too much of it. My main reason for asking is because I’m starting to run into “blocking” issues where the gray border blocks other images below it from moving all the way left. Here’s an example, see the bottom of the page: http://steigerwaldsource.wordpress.com/gallery-2/covers/aspen/soulfire/

    So 1, is it possible to shorten the gray border/buffer area on the bottom of the images and how can it be done. 2, how can I keep that area from allowing other images below it to move all the way left when entered?

    Thanks ahead of time.

    Hello there,
    You don’t have to fill in the caption line when you insert a picture but if you leave it blank, then you won’t have the caption text. And as far as I know and what my experimentation in my test blog produces there is no way of reducing the gray image caption area provided as it’s automatically expanding to accommodate the amount of text entered into the caption box. Perhaps simply using an HTML table for the images and captions could create the consistency you are seeking.

    OOPS! I’m sorry I failed to note that you posted this into the CSS forum and just assumed it was a Support thread. Please be be patient while writing for a volunteer who assists with CSS editing to answer you, and best wishes for a happy ending. :)

    To shorten the spacing at the bottom of the caption add the code below to your CSS styles. The images at the bottom of that page line up in a grid, are you seeing/expecting something else?

    #content .wp-caption-text {margin-bottom:5px;}

    Hm that’s strange. On my work computer they were staggered, like 3, 2, 1 and on my home computer (this one) they are all aligned how I wanted them to be. Not sure what to make of that? But thanks for the code, I’m going to try to use it anyways.
