Image cannot be removed from blog post – WordPress using as featured image!

  I deleted an image from the media library, but WordPress is still using it as a featured image when I never selected it as a featured image.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I originally added an image to the media library of a friend with an orangutan. I had another image selected as the “featured image.” Instead, WordPress has used this image as the feature, and what’s worse is that when it is shared on Facebook – the image zeros in on the lady’s CROTCH! A totally unintended consequence!

  The image is perfectly fine but I cropped it and re-uploaded it to hopefully avoid this possibility, but it is STILL THERE and still doing its thing….

  What is the URL of the page or post on which it is featured? Did you upload it as a featured image? If so, then replacing it with another featured image, or just clicking the “remove featured image” link in the featured image module should remove it. I don’t know why deleting it from the media library didn’t remove it.

  Regarding the Facebook issue:
  In the FAQ section of the Facebook Image Thumbnail support page find the FAQ “Changed an image, but Facebook doesn’t see it?” It says:

  Once a post or page has been shared on Facebook, the images have been stored in a cache on their server for future shares. Facebook doesn’t look at the page again for new images until their cache expires. This time period is unpredictable, but can be days or weeks. You can force Facebook to update its cache for your post/page by entering the link to the specific blog post you’re sharing into their Debug tool on this page:

  http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

  After pasting your link into the box on that page, click the “Debug” button. Then, click the “Fetch new scrape information” button. You may need to click the “Fetch new scrape information” button twice. Then try sharing your post/page on Facebook again.

  I never uploaded the image as a feature, and now it’s deleted entirely, but still showing on FB. But your explanation regarding FB’s cache explains it…..
