Image cannot be replaced
-
I deleted an image upload and replaced it with one of the same name. However, the old image still shows up when I view it. It’s not the cache on my computer as I’ve refreshed it many times. I tried the deleting the image and NOT uploading the replacement, and the image is still there.
Help!
Thumbnail (http://annbruce.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/beforedawn-sm.thumbnail.jpg) shows correct image. Full size (http://annbruce.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/beforedawn-sm.jpg) does not.

Try changing the name of the new file. WP.com doesn’t like two files with the same name.

Thanks. That’s what I had to do, but I was hoping for a fix instead of a workaround. I take it this is a known bug with WP?

this is happening to me as well with images i am trying to replace with updates of the same name. If i delete an image why is it not actually deleted? why does wordpress still keep the original version?

whether or not it’s a bug – it’s our reality so if you want a fix volunteers can’t help – you need to contact staff

workaround:
delete the first image >manage <uploads
then upload the replacement image using a unique namevolunteers have no answers- we can guess that it probably has to do with servers and caching but only staff can say “why”
