Image captions: can no longer add a line break.
-
Until a couple of days ago I was able to add line breaks to my image captions (essentially adding a second line for species. See this page by way of example:
Note how all species images have common name and scientific name separated on two lines. Until you get to ‘Family Apidae: True Bees’ and the last 4 images of this group there is only one line. I have been using the Gutenberg editor for sometime and have had no trouble until a couple of days ago. When I hit return on the caption in the editor it is no longer adding the line break?
I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue.
Regards
Pete

Hi Pete,
This was an intentional change made to the editor by the team over on WordPress.org who makes it. You can see details at https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/22290
But you can still add multi-line captions – press Shift-Return instead, and it will create a new line in the caption, rather than moving on to the next block.

Hi Kokkieh,
Many thanks for your reply.
This works wonderfully, thank you!
Best wishes.
