image compression

When I’m uploading photos, let’s say it is 170kb and insert it as a full-size image, the photos get automaticly a compression. after the upload the picture is only 66kb big and looks ugly as hell ;) how can I change it? thank you for every help!

There are both free desktop applications your can use to optimize, compress and resize your images prior to uploading them and online programs as well. You will find brief reviews and links to them in these posts.

Yea dealt with that myself a while ago too, totally annoyed the hell out of me.
It doesn’t matter even if you optimize your image, save it for web, embed colors etc. WordPress does some kind of weird compression no matter what (even if you choose full size etc.). Very weird.What you need to do when post the image in an article is strip away the dimensions/image size stuff (in your HTML editor when creating a post or switch to it when you’re done in the visual editor, look for the image code and delete the height and width along with its numbers). Now the image should look clear and crisp (and retain its colors as you intended it) again.

btw, can I say that your blog displays way to many posts at one time and since each post has tons of pictures it takes forever to load, I clicked away when the whole page still didnt finish loading after a minute. What was the time limit again before people start clicking away when they don’t see anything… 10 seconds or less I read somewhere.
