Image Compression
-
Hello,
I can’t, for the life of me (!) get my images to retain their quality on upload. I have no image compression plugins active and have tried on a fresh install anyway, nothing but an uploaded image.
Images are being reduced in size and I am losing quality on png and jpeg. I have tried uploading via ftp and by adding filters to my functions.php file to keep the quality at 100 (tried this on fresh install as well). These images are not huge and are not getting ‘scaled’ – they’re 800px or so. It’s not to do with the container size, or anything on the front end.
If I download an image online, view it in my browser at normal full quality, then download and upload to wordpress, to open just the image again in my browser (that I’ve just uploaded), I can view them side by side and the one I’ve just uploaded is lower quality.
If I check the files in my uploads folder I *CAN* find the file I’ve originally uploaded, at full quality.. How can I get wordpress media library to grab this file and not the compressed one!?!?
Please help.
