Hi, I am trying to crop an image using the image cropper in WordPress. I am using the online version of WordPress. However the selected field does not show up after cropping. No matter whether I use a desktop or a tablet to do this. The image simply does not end up cropped as selected afterckicking the crop button. It always shows up in the same way as if no cropping was done. This has been going on for weeks and I am completely at a loss as to what is going on. I have used wordpress since 2009 and this has never happened to me before. I have cropped many images before. Why does cropping no longer work?

I guess this is a bug. I tried it and failed too.

Hi there,

The crop features is working perfectly fine on this end. Is there particular image that you are trying to crop unsuccessfully, or no matter what image you try, you have no success? Also, have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same results?

If it is a particular image that you are having trouble with, please provide the URL to that image, and I’d be happy to try to crop on my end to see if I can replicate the issue.

I tried to crop the image on Chrome and Firefox; both results the same; the Save button is not clickable.

Thanks for the screenshot and link. I’ve visited the file from the WP Admin dashboard on my side and the “Save” button is working is expected:

Please try clearing your browser cache to see if that helps. If it doesn’t, can you confirm the version number of the browser and operating system you are using? Both pieces of information can be found on supportdetails.com and will help us with testing.

Also, are you able to crop the image successfully in the new interface?

@fathergregory — could you try the same and send those details over if clearing the cache doesn’t make any difference?

Hi @gemmacevans, I just installed Firefox today to do the testing and I’m clearing my Chrome browser cache. The problem is still there in the old interface.

Hi @pdrw07, I’ve confirmed this is an issue in the wp-admin cropper on my .com site as well as on a .org installation.

Would either you or @fathergregory like to file the bug since you found it?

@all: Quick update, turn out it’s not a bug! Here is what they told me and it works :)

The save button will not be active until you have made an adjustment to the image. Your example shows a marquee selecting a portion of the image, but that does not actually make a change. You would need to click the crop button (the far left in your screenshot) before being able to save.
