Image distortion
-
Hello – I use the theme ‘Spun’ to display my artwork, so visual appearance of the images is of very high importance to me (not that it isn’t to non-artists!). Most of the circular images that appear on my homepage are stretched, some vertically and some horizontally. Two are just fine. I cannot seem to solve the issue and don’t think its anything to do with the images I’m uploading. Could someone please provide advice on how to address this?

I submitted this question using the wrong site. The site with the image distortion issues is allysacervanteshallett.wordpress.com

Hello,
When I look at your site, I don’t see any image distortion, but maybe I’m not thinking of distortion the same way you are.
Have you carefully read the theme instructions here?
https://wordpress.com/theme/spun/christodiego.wordpress.comAlso…and this probably doesn’t have anything to do with any distortion issue, but your image file sizes are very large…which results in very slow loading of your page. It’s possible to create your images at a more workable size, and you can start reading about that here:

Hi manfrommars,
Huh, thats odd. I’ve looked at it on three computers and my phone and they are all (but those two that look fine) slightly distorted. When you click on the circles the images appear normal, but the circles are stretched. I have read the theme instructions and have played with options but it doesn’t change anything.
Thanks for the comment on the file size – I can definitely reduce them.

To be a bit more clear about the distortion- the images WITHIN the circle are stretched. They are all still defined by that circle but some are stretched horizontally and others are stretched vertically within the circle. When you click the circle, the image in the post looks normal.

OK, I see what you mean about the images *within* the circle being distorted.
Over the years I’ve seen WordPress themes that put featured images into rectangles on the Home page, and (for whatever reason) distort the images…possibly in some misguided desire to make the image “fit better.” So maybe that’s what the developer of the Spun theme thinks is best. It’s not a “solution” I would be able to accept in any theme I would want to use.
I hope someone who has experience with this theme will come along and help.

Ah, that makes sense. Hmm..seems like a major flaw for such a visually based design
Thank you very much for your input!

manfrommars! Funny enough, the file sizes were apparently causing the issue. I’m adjusting them now and as I adjust each one, the distortion is no longer. Thank you!

That’s cool…thanks for letting me know…good luck with everything else you’re doing on your site.
