Image doesn’t click to larger size
-
Hi,
Can someone help?
I’ve uploaded a large image before which fits into the blog page and just requires a click to open a window to show the image in its full resolution. I’ve just tried to do the same thing for another image but it doesn’t work. It seems to compress my image which makes it look wierd. How can I fix this? The image is not found at a separate URL to link to.
Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m afraid some people who share the blog want it protected so a link won’t be any good. I know this makes it difficult to help me but if someone will help all the same, I’d be most grateful. Pretty pleeeze….

First, we need a link to the blog anyway, to determine if you are in the right forum, i.e. if our answers apply or not. Don’t worry, we volunteers here are just fellow bloggers: we cannot access a private blog. (And WP staff can access it no matter if you give the URL or not.)
Second, problems such as yours are often theme-dependent. So, since we cannot see the blog, you must at least tell us which theme you’re using, so we can test things in our test blogs and maybe come up with an answer.
Also, you say “I’ve uploaded a large image before”: when was that “before”?

Okey. Address is http://beramnadelaine.wordpress.com/

My theme is Kubrick. Haven’t changed it, I don’t think.
Thanks.

All uploaded images do have a URL associated with them. Please go to Edit the post, then click on the image, click on the edit image icon (the mountain) and see the URL in there. Does it link to None, to Page, or to File/Image? Select the last option.

@adelaineng: Thanks too.
A few themes will distort large images. Kubrick is not one of them: it just resizes the image to the maximum width it can take. If your only problem is that the image won’t link to the full-size original when clicked, you need to click “File URL” after uploading and before inserting it. (And you only need to do this once: the uploader will then remember your preference.) For an image you have already uploaded and inserted in a post or page, go to the visual editor, click on the image, click the edit button (mountain icon), click “Link to image”, click Update, click Update Post.
My “before” question had to do with my suspicion that you hadn’t done this for a long time: things were different prior to the implementation of wp 2.7, which was last December.

Super! That did it! Thanks! Final quick query: If I deleted the image from my computer, does that mean the blog will have no image to link to and therefore ‘click and view original image in a new window’ function will not work anymore?
-
That is not correct. The image exists online separate from your computer. I delete almost all of my images from the computer once they’re online.
