Hi,
It’s not clear what you are trying to accomplish. Do you want to replace the “blank (white) image?” It sounds like perhaps you are trying to combine a text link and an image link. I don’t believe that’s possible. However, you may have an image link beside a text link, with each linking to the same URL. See the following support pages:
Links (for text links) — https://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

I’ll investigate the blank link as a possibility. Basically I was trying to link to my post in Facebook & Twitter and both have a blank white box on the left, and text from the post on the right. See below :
Thanks for responding.

Thanks for that information. I’m not sure why the image in the post Thanksgiving on Devil’s Lake is not drawn and displayed on the Twitter version of the post. But you say that you want the blank white box to appear, and The Twitter post has a blank white box to the left of the excerpt, so…maybe I’m misunderstanding. Is it that another post is not behaving in the same way at Facebook and Twitter?
My experience with Twitter is virtually nil and I’ve never used Facebook, so I’d suggest that you add a “modlook” tag to call for staff attention, and then wait for staff to respond.

Nah, I don’t want the blank white box. I want a picture there. The blank white box was unintended.

The only reason I expected a picture, was that I added one as ‘featured’ picture for the post. I was expecting to see that picture where the white box is.
Thank you for looking into this.

I thought that you meant,
I was trying to link to my post in Facebook & Twitter and [to] both have a blank white box on the left, and [have] text from the post on the right.

You’re welcome. So the post Thanksgiving on Devil’s Lake has a featured image set? I think the theme you’re using is retired. I haven’t see that theme in years. This could be a factor.

Hi there,
It could be that the image is cached with Facebook and Twitter from an earlier post you’d shared. Run the link of the post through the debuggers for those two services. That should force the preview image to update for new shares:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator
I’d also recommend you set a Blavatar image for your site that can be used as a fallback if the featured image or the image in your post cannot be used by those services. Your blavatar image should be about 500×500 pixels big. You can add it on this page:

Have you tried what I suggested? It doesn’t look that way, because I tried sharing your post on Facebook and it showed the blank image. Then I flushed Facebook’s cache, as I asked you to do above, and now if I share the post it shows the correct image. So it was the Facebook cache. Same for Twitter. It’s fixed on both now.
