image formats look bad, how do I line them up?

  • Unknown's avatar

Can you explain what I am doing wrong? I looked everywhere for answer. Suffice it to say I need s simple to use theme, easy layout. My pictures will not line up nicely. I try adj placement and often WP will not let me do anything but change size. If I actually get them to look ok, not ideal, they look even weirder once published. I want a nice simple, one by one photo gallery post…here is what mine looks like:
    https://anjeanetteillustrationphotography.wordpress.com/

I am finding that photos do not line up, and the loader is a different set up than in all the how to videos. Help! :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there!

First, I’m wondering if you have attempted to use our image galleries, for times that you have multiple images. Using a gallery will help you lay those images our neatly:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

Additionally, if you’d like single images to be uniform, and would prefer your text wrap around those images, you can adjust your alignment according to these instructions:

    Align Images With Text

We recently updated our editor, so the image might look slightly different that your editor. Our documentation hasn’t entirely caught up to the software! So, if you have any trouble during your image configuration, just let me know specifically what you’re hoping to accomplish, and I’m more than happy to help further!

    Thanks.

hmm I am doing all the steps from both links.
I apologize I am not sure I am explaining this in correct terms, apologizes if it is hard to understand. :)

When I follow all those and get to the steps and get
to the actual draft page, )where I can write or add photos)
I add media (photos) and in the drafting area each photo has a little box around it I can adjust
However, I cannot do any adjustments other than size or tell it to register right, left etc. The problem is no matter what I do the photo stays where it is, and it just looks wonky. It does NOT align nicely despite the instructions when I try to make a tiled gallery (To insert a tiled gallery, add the relevant shortcode addition after “gallery”:

    type=”rectangular”)

I do want a simple one photo at a time, or gallery, for each post. I tried gallery post format, heck I tried every format and it looks like I sprinkled photos randomly around like sprinkles haha.

When viewed on mobile almost every post if perfect except for two which have the same problem.

I really want a simple drag and drop blog haha. Can you suggest a theme where I can do this as I am anxious to blog, yet do not have the amounts of time necessary to figure this out. Am I putting short codes in the wrong place?

Also, I cannot find the image carasol settings anywhere

    Settings>image carosal

  • Unknown's avatar

for example on my stats page under configuration is settings- it does not have access to images etc just general, writing (which is already set to gallery), discussion, analytics.

In individual post drafts I see advanced settings on the right side, it has slug, auther, post format again but no access to carasol.

NONE of my pages look like ANY of the examples given in the above links- what am I missing?

    Hey again!

Try this…open up a new post, or click below:
    https://wordpress.com/post/85314157/new/?optin

    1. Click Add Media.
    2. In the left-hand corner (as seen in my image below) click Create Gallery.
      https://cloudup.com/cm3BuO-_Ahr
    3. In the Create Gallery box, click on any images you want added. You can also click Upload Files to add new images that you haven’t yet added to your Media Gallery. Click Create a New Gallery (as seen in the image below):
      https://cloudup.com/ip51JTglMA7
    4. Once you do this, you will see a sidebar in the right-hand side of the page. Choose the gallery’s attributes. Then, click Insert Gallery, as seen here:
      https://cloudup.com/iSu9JDfdtXt
    5. Your gallery will now look like this in your post:
      https://cloudup.com/ifxXGYBSgN7
    6. In order to see how the gallery will work when it’s “live” on your site, you can click this link:
      https://cloudup.com/iwSSJAbhj6c
    7. I happened to make it a Tiled Mosaic, but you could opt for any layout.
    8. When you click on any image in the Mosaic in the live site, your carousel will open:
      https://cloudup.com/iQWA0nNbOwp

I have saved the post I created (as an example) as a draft. It’s not published on your site, but I left it, in case you want to take a look at how it should be set up. The link to the draft post is here:
    http://wp.me/p5LY6N-3d

for example on my stats page under configuration is settings- it does not have access to images etc just general, writing (which is already set to gallery), discussion, analytics.

You won’t find any of the image settings you’re looking for in your Stats Page/Settings. You will find image settings in your individual posts/pages, and in your Media Library.

Give those steps above a try, and let me know how it works.
    Thank you!

Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate the work you did and I feel bad saying this but it is not what I want my blog to look like? I am doing a bad job explaining what I want and not understanding how to do it! I am so sorry.

Here is an example of what I want mine to look like:
    http://inloveinthecity.com/fall-nashville-engagement-photos/

I tried researching and maybe what I need is a plug in??? I am worried because I obviously am in over my head hahaha!!

I appreciate your patience, it may be that I need to find an easier platform to start a blog. I am not very techy :/

I wonder if purchasing this theme would work, and if I could get refund if it did not?

  • Unknown's avatar

I JUST want it as a blog…would this be hard to figure out and publish?

    I go here like suggested:
Using a gallery will help you lay those images our neatly:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

I like the look of this:
    [gallery type=”rectangular”]

It says to go here to follow these steps:
Styling each gallery individually will work only when the checkbox that says “Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic” is unchecked in Settings → Media. For more information on how to style each gallery individually, please see Manage Gallery Styles Individually.

I CANNOT find this grey box anywhere:
You can also manage gallery styles individually. To do so, go to Settings → Media. Under the section Image Gallery Carousel, uncheck the box Display all your gallery pictures in a cool mosaic and click Save, to keep the default thumbnail grid layout across your site. When you want to include a gallery in a post, insert it as usual and then simply switch over to the Text tab in the post editor and add the code for the gallery style you want to use (see Gallery Shortcodes).

  • Unknown's avatar

settings>media I cannot find this to uncheck the box.

I am sorry none of my pages look like any of these examples. I feel stupid but I cant find :/

  • Unknown's avatar

also my text editor does not look like this https://en-support.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/texteditor.png

so I do not know here to put short codes?
this is what I attempted in the html tab
Jennifer & Cody’s October wedding was featured In the Tennessean and Star News Special Occasions insert. There were so many precious moments from this beautiful wedding I wanted to share them here! Thanks to Kailee Riches Photography for second shooting the ceremony and formal family portraits for me!

    Hi there,

There are so many questions and comments here, I’m not sure where to start :)

I wonder if purchasing this theme would work, and if I could get refund if it did not?

If you purchase a theme, you have 30-days to change your mind, cancel it, and receive a refund.

Here is an example of what I want mine to look like:
    http://inloveinthecity.com/fall-nashville-engagement-photos/
I tried researching and maybe what I need is a plug in??? I am worried because I obviously am in over my head hahaha!!

The site you linked isn’t a WordPress.com site, but it is using a gallery like the ones we have here. There shouldn’t be a problem with setting something similar up here.

WordPress.com does not offer the option to install third-party plugins. If you would like more control over plugins and the option to install your own, a WordPress.org setup would be the best solution for you.

This page explains the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org in more detail, if you’re interested:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    I go here like suggested:
Using a gallery will help you lay those images our neatly:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/
I like the look of this:
    [gallery type=”rectangular”]

    Great!

You are using the new editor, which is why the steps don’t look the same in the support documents. We haven’t updated all those images yet. If you want to adjust a Post in the classic editor, so you can follow those instructions as-is, you can find your posts here:

    https://anjeanetteillustrationphotography.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

You can open your post in the classic editor and follow the instructions in the gallery document.

Give that a try, and let me know if that works better for you. The same functions can be done in the new editor, but I know things look a bit different there!

Thanks. I’ll keep an eye out for your response, if you need a hand!
