Image Gallery

  I have created an image gallery, inserted images into the gallery. The captions I added to the images do not show up when viewed in the carousel

  The site I need help with is rjcfotography.wordpress.com.

  If you have written captions for images in the Media library and then add the Gallery block, the Gallery block will show the captions you wrote. However, if you add captions to the images in the Media library after adding the Gallery block, those captions will not appear in the Gallery block. In that case, you can either type the captions manually on the Gallery block or remove and re-add the block so that it will use the captions from the Media library.

  Hi csabarakasz. Thanks for your reply. Yes, that works but when the image is displayed in the slide carousel (clicking on the image) it does not show.

  Also it seems that using a Tiled Gallery instead of Galley the captions disappear from all views and there is no way to add them manually. I suspect the Tiled Gallery is not able to display captions.

  Thank you for your reply @robjcut.

  I did some testing and some research related to this topic. In my testing I experienced the same as you did.

  It seems like this might be a known issue and they are working to fix it.

  One solution that I found, and it worked for me as well, is to use the Classic Block Add Media button within the Block editor. When you insert a media this way, the captions show up correctly both in the title view and in the slide carousel view. Give it a try and let me know how it worked for you. I recorded this video of how I did it:

  Another solution if you put the Captions to the Image Title place. It is not as nice of a solution though.

  That is perfect!

  All my portfolios created under the classic editor worked perfectly but once WordPress moved to the new block editor I was unable to find the classic editor. You have shown me how and I greatly appreciate your efforts.
