Image header quality

Hi, i have a problem when uploading a custom image header for my blog.

It has some areas with plain colours, and when uploading, the jpg compression makes them look REALLY awful. After compression, the jpg on the site is about 25kb.
I got it in my computer as a 20kb size gif, and it looks just great.
Is there any way to upload directly that gif, or to link the custom header to an url?

    Thanks

I believe that the only option is to upload as jpg. If it sees a GIF then it will convert it. I would suggest that you convert your image to JPG before uploading it. It may well sort the problem you’re seeing.

Unfortunately I don’t believe there’s a way to link to an off-site image.

it doesn’t matter what format I upload.. i tried them all. It compresses it a lot and the purple tones look horribly. This is incredible… In the first post, i uploaded the same image at full quality and it is showed as is… but i can’t use it as a custom header… http://nopuedodormir.wordpress.com

    frustrating

i’ve been forced to change the purple tones by ble ones. It suffers fewer damage with the jpg compression

Are you trying to combine the *.png into the previous *.jpg header? Since they’re two different formats with two different compression ratios, that might be what’s cauing the issue.

Try exporting out the banner that you made as a *.jpg first before you combine it with the previous banner.
