Image import issues
-
I used ‘export’ feature from my other WP install to import into WordPress.com. However, the path from the images were still showing as from my old WP install, in this case metrosnapshot.com. Do I need to manually import my images over?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
Yes you will need to manually move the images over to your new website.
What you imported was the HTML code for each of the pages which includes the full URLs for the images but using your original domain so after manually importing the images you will need to update these as well.
Because you have no access to the database at WordPress.com you will need to go trough each page and post and manually replace the missing images using the Add Media function. -
Thanks very much. So I guess there’s really no way around it. I did see some images imported as metrosnapshot.files.wordpress.com as well, which makes it even more confusing.

I know there are a few issues around the import tool and images etc so you’ll have to see what you end up with and reload the missing files.
If you also need to update the links in the database there is a Search and Replace plugin that might help:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-and-replace/
but you’ll need a business plan to be able to upload it.
Good luck with it.
Just go slowly and carefully and it should work out fine -
Thanks very much. I am thinking about going with WordPress but just going to do some more homework before I do. At least my sites have (finally) ported over for now, so I can turn them on at anytime.
