Image in a reply – possible?
-
Hi,
I have recenty set up my blog, and have gone through FAQ but can’t find information whether an image can be added to a comment. For instance: if I wanted to add my own reply to a page I have set up, can I, and how, include an image in it?
One more question: why do phoos always upload to the top of the post? Is there a way of having an image lower, in between paragraphs?
Thank you very much.

You can add your own reply using any comment box on a page or on a post. You can place a link to an image in a comment box. You cannot place an image in one.
You can place images anywhere you wish on a post or page. Where you place your cursor prior to clicking “send to editor” is where the uploaded image will be placed.
That being said, you can still move these images in the text rich editor using the cut, copy and paste functions and, by dragging diagonal corners you can re-size images. And you can choose whether to center the images between paragraphs or justify them to left or right. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/
In addition you can wrap text around images http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/29/how-do-i-get-text-to-go-around-a-picture/
Happy blogging :)

{/nod to TT and a wave}
One thing to keep in mind is that putting an image link into a comment, may actually “break” someone’s layout. By that I mean that the comment area is a fixed width and if the image you link to is wider than the comment box, then it could cause problems, just like it can by putting an image that is too wide into a blog post or a page. -
Yes that’s an important consideration. Another one is that anyone could post any kind of image, including pornography and other spam, into a comment box and surprise those bloggers and their readers, who do not use comment moderation.

somehow neither of above considerations don’t bother LJ users — it’s quite common to see as images, as other various objects such as flash videos embedded into their comments.

GOOD GRIEF! Flash embeds in comment boxes.
Are they blissfully unaware of the security issues or what? -

TT, I dunno which ones of the “security issues” related with images or flash embeds in the comments, 1 734 766 active in some way LJ users should be dejectfully aware of?
most probably because there ain’t such, or, perhaps, they have never had a chance to become cognisant of *serious studies* on this FUD matter spread across this forums.
fwiw, I’ve checked Secunia.org, and it turned up that LJ product has only 2 (two!) advisories since 2003 (and it’s really much older), and neither of them is related with aforementioned issues. just for the record, WP has 66 ones on several pages for the same period. my guess, that must be due programmers (not coders) of the LJ dev team are more like prose writers.

you’ve posted very nice link, by the way.
think it might be useful to add that flash with default settings may track you regardless of where it’s been embedded on a web page: in the post, sidebar, or comments…
