Image in Media Library Link Receives 404 Message

  I uploaded images to my media library so that I could get the hosting link to post elsewhere. Unfortunately when I copy and paste the link of the image in my browser I get a 404 error. Why?

  the site connected to your username, and images belong to a selfhosted site and not a WordPress.COM blog.
