Image in sidebar
-
I want to put an image in my sidebar. The FAQ instructions show a different dashboard than I have. It shows an Upload link next to posts, pages and categories, but I do not have that. Maybe it was the old dashboard. I can only upload when I go into editing pages or posts. Is there a new way to put an image in the sidebar other than what the FAQ shows?

Use the new uploader to “add media” and grab the url that way. Otherwise, it’s pretty much similar. Just use a text widget.
You’re right, it is the old dashboard. It will take TPTB some time to update the FAQs.

I uploaded the image and it is in my image library. How do I put it into the widget? Can I put it into an existing widget? Do I need to add another widget?

Wowa there! One question a row!
In order:
When the image is in your library, go to “Manage – Media Library”.
Next to the image you have uploaded is a link that says “permalink”. Right click and choose “Copy URL” or the equivalent on your browser.
Then, if you have an existing text widget you can put it in there or you can create a new text widget.
Don’t forget to put the img src html in as outlined in this FAQ:
-
I’ll try that. I tried to add a new text widget and when it appeared to do it, I clicked edit and nothing happened.
-
It shows I have 6 widgets on the right of the widget page. When I click add on text widget, it moves to the right, but then when I click edit, it disappears from my widget list and goes back to the main list.

What’s the link to your blog?
I think you’ll need to take this up with staff. Click the support button in your dashboard.
