image isn't appearing in sidebar?
-
Hello! I’m so excited to be adding images to my sidebar, though I’ve only had success with one image from my ‘library’. I’m not sure why the other two are not loading? I’m doing the same process that I did with the first. I’ve removed the two ‘images’/widgets from the sidebar for the moment, because they are appearing as the little blue box with the question mark in the center? thank you in advance for your help! I’m so excited that I had success with one, I can’t wait to add more!! (:

Hi there,
You’ll first want to copy the File URL for the image that you want to use in the sidebar. To do this, you can go to your Media Library and click edit for the image you want.
Here is an example:
https://riperedberries.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1983&action=edit
Copy the entire File URL. For the image above, it would be this:
Then, add the Image widget to your sidebar, and paste the File URL into the Image URL field for that widget.
Let me know if this works for you.

Thank you so much! I thought I had been copying the images URL from my media library and then pasting it into the URL field, but something is amiss…I will try again tomorrow (when I’m in wifi, we only have dial-up where I live, I know, what?). And hope for the best. I was successful with one image, which was why I asked for help. I was unsuccessful with not only one more attempt, but two attempts with two different images…made me say, hmmm…so thank you again for the help and I’ll do the steps in the order you’ve suggested; copy, then add the image widget, then paste. Fingers crossed!

So, I decided I’d invest the time and try tonight (despite the painfully slow connection…) and I’m having the same results as I did earlier today (I was in wifi earlier)…? I’ve left up (on my blog) what my results are. I copied the URL from the media page, added the image widget, then pasted…still no image? Hmmm…I’ll keep trying another day – let me know if you notice anything I’ve done incorrectly…thank you again!

Hi there,
So the reason the image isn’t loading is because the file url isn’t correct to display an image:
From your dashboard, can you go to Media, and find the name of the image you want to use?
Just copy/paste the name of that image here, and I’ll see what I can do to help.

Hello,
Below is the name of the image I’m trying to use;
in tins – topped with sugar sprinkle
I noticed a difference between the way the two images appeared when I was viewing them to get their URL’s. The first (which was successful) looked more like a blog post. It had a similar layout to my blog theme, though it was just the image and then the info. about the image. VS. when I click on edit, for the image selected above, it brings me to a different looking page, with the image, and then a box to the right containing the name, URL, etc…not sure why? Perhaps this is the problem? thanks in advance!

Hello again,
The first (which was successful) looked more like a blog post. It had a similar layout to my blog theme, though it was just the image and then the info. about the image. VS. when I click on edit, for the image selected above, it brings me to a different looking page, with the image, and then a box to the right containing the name, URL, etc…
If you click the “View” link in the media library, instead of the “Edit” link, then you will see something that looks more like a blog post. This is not what you want.
For the image you mentioned, you should see this screen when you click the “Edit” link from the media library:
https://riperedberries.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1936&action=edit
The File URL for that image is listed on the right as:
I was able to get the File URL above by copying the entire contents of the File URL field as shown in this screenshot:
Try that, and let me know if it works for you.

YEAH!! Success! I realized I was copying the permalink – not the URL – thank you, thank you, thank you for your patience and help!!
I haven’t been able to load the full landing page (of my blog) as of yet, dial-up…though the space between the words ‘baking deliciousness’ and the word ‘archives’ seems to be a large enough space to accommodate the photo and not just the little blue box containing the question mark! So it seems I’ve done it correctly!
Thank you again – and I’m so excited to add more photos (while in wifi) and learn even more about the technical side of blogging! Yeah!
Thank you!!

I neglected to mention – I can’t believe I was copying the permalink, not the URL, especially after reading and re-reading the clear instructions to; copy the URL…
Once again, thank you. For your patience and perseverance. (:

Hi there,
It’s no problem at all. I’m glad you were able to get it to work!
Enjoy your site (on Wi-Fi) and have a great day. :-)
