Image Link in Post Has 2 URLs

  I have an image in a post, to which I give an external link. When I click the link on the live (hosted) website it has been transformed into something of the form …

  http://page-url/external link url

  For example if I want my image on page http://www.bloggs.com/mypost
  to link to http://www.bbc.co.uk, the link becomes…
  http://www.bloggs.com/mypost”http://www.bbc.co.uk

  ie the page address is prefixed to the external link address!!!! and the link fails.

  Any ideas?

  Are you talking about http://manwithpipe.wordpress.com/ or about a different, self-hosted, site?

  A different one entirely hosted on Godaddy servers with version 3.5.
