Image manipulation within a post

    Has there been a change to the way we use images in a post? My usual method is this. I would write the post and save it as a draft. I would then find an image that I wish to use and save it to my hard drive. I then use a 3rd party image editor (IrfanView) to crop the image. This is then uploaded to the WordPress gallery. From there I would insert the image into my post.

    The next stage would be to use the grab handles on the image to resize it and then set the alignment to either left or right. My next step would be to move the image to the location in the post where I wish it to be seen.

    I then preview to post to see how it looks. If there is an issue, I would usually edit the post if it is needed,

    The issue now seems to be that I can no longer resize the image when it has been aligned. The workaround is to make the alignment “NONE”, resize the image and reset the alignment back to what I need. This seems to have changed recently.

    Hi there,

    I just tested uploading, left-aligning, and then resizing an image on my test site, and it worked without any issues. Could you try this on a different browser just to rule out this being a browser issue?

    After further testing, I have discovered that I can change the size down when the image is left or right aligned, but I’m not able to change the size upward. Tried with three different browsers. Thank you for looking.

    Hi! Are you finding this happens in particular when you’re inserting an image with a caption, or in general when you’ve selected alignment (left, right, or centre)?

    I suspect this may be related to a different issue I’ve seen, so any details you can provide are greatly appreciated!

    l rarely use captions, so it’s just with general images. Thanks for looking.

    Hey there,

    Many thanks for that confirmation there.

    So this looks to be a known issue that was flagged just last week and so it’s on our radar.

    I’ve added this report to the tally.

    In the meantime, you would need to use the work around mentioned, which is setting the image alignment to none and then resizing.

    I hope this offers more information.
