Image map – a how to guide for wordpress.com
-
I’d like to image map an actual map so that there are a number of clickable hot spots on the map, each with its own url link.
I checked out the image map app but it wouldn’t accept the file from my wordpress image library. (Is that because it was from a https source as opposed to http?)
In any case, it would be a neat feature to add to my blog site.
Any tips on how to do this?

timethief – that was quick! Thanks for the links.
I’ll try the suggested online solutions and hope that one works. I’ll report back – but it won’t be in 9 minutes!

timethief, success!
A not-too-elegant first attempt but I see potential in this! I made use of the isdntek website and it is excellent. Everything is laid out very clearly and the instructions are easy to follow.
I had one problem. I finally realized I had to resize the image from the huge original to a 600 x 357 file for it to work.
Check out this page from my website to see the first application – I hotlinked the names of the various river systems on the map so that when you click on them you go to a related post.
Needs some work – but I am on my way!
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
