Image Problems
-
*sighs* There are alot of nice new features with the new dashboard set up which I like but the two I most frustrated on is the spell check and images. I have read through so I know the spell check button has been removed due to it not working correct in the new setup. Although there are probably other means of checking spelling outside of wordpress but its makes things much more a task. Ok that aside I have another major issue and would be getting images to show up on new pages and posts.
OS: Windows XP
Browser: Internet ExplorerIf I goto my media library the image shows up connected to a page but it doesn’t show up in the page’s editor or on the preview the page. I am using the WSIWYG and not sure how to possibly force the image to show up using the HTML coding. As my blog relies heavily on images could someone be so kind as to help me with a fix that I might be overlooking or even a temp fix until some of the problems of the new system is hammered out.

Go to the IE help file and search for spellchecker and see if it has a built in spellchecker. If it does then activate it and it will check your spelling as you type.
On the images issue, the first thing I would do is log out of wordpress and clear your browser cache and cookies just as a precaution, close and reopen the browser and then log back in. Go to the editor page and then once it loads, do a forced reload (view menu of your browser).
I may be repeating things you have already done or tried.
1. Open a new post
2. Click on the “add media” button at the top of the editor (spiky looking circle) then on media library and select an image
3. When the window expands to where you can see the sizes and such, choose a size
4. Scroll down and click “insert into post.”It may take up to several seconds for the image to appear.
If any of the popup windows come up blank, right click and select reload, refresh, or reload frame and it will reload and everything will show up.

Do you have another browser that you can try? If not, temporarily download Firefox and see if it works in Firefox. If it does, you can use FF until they get the IE problems ironed out. You can always uninstall it later.

Please give us the URL of an image that’s not showing up and the URL of the post it’s not showing up in as well. We have seen an error in the past which made images not work for some viewers and perfectly visible to others.

Trouble getting my images to load into the post once they are uploaded as well. Here looking for help. Same operating system and browser.

What version of IE? What version of Flash do you have? –

What happens when you try to upload? (more detail than “trouble” please – what do you see?)

My images are showing up very small. Are they now limiting the sizes of our images and if so why? Gosh we barely have any fun here as it is compared to other blogs, seeing we can’t adjust HTML. I hope you are not limiting the width and height of our images too.

You can choose from three image sizes when you go to insert the image into your post. You might have to scroll down a little in the insert image box, but there will be thumbnail, medium (300px) and full sized. With medium and full sized, you can click on the image to highlight it and then drag a corner handle to adjust it larger or smaller.
If the thumbnails are too small, you can adjust that by going to settings > media and putting the sizes you wish in the boxes. The standard here is 128 for width and 96 for height. Don’t click on the “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)” or your images will end up distorted.

Having the same problem loading images into the posts after successfully uploading them to the gallery. I’m running Firefox 2.0.0.13 on a Macbook Pro, and the cache is clean.
Also seeing significant slowdown in pages loading and link and comment submission response. Screen freezes as well. Never had any of these problems in 2.3 :(

Nancy, you are independently-hosted and running a significantly different version of the software, so you’re in the wrong forum. You need to be over at WordPress.org.
