Image quality

I upload my images in a 1000×1000 resolutions and they get uploaded in the same size. In the editor (where I edit my post), they look just fine. However, when I click on preview or I publish the post they look horrible – washed out with no color. If I open them in another tab and zoom, they look great again. I tried to reduce the size to 900×900 and 700X700 so they come up in their original size on the page and you don’t have to zoom on them for better quality. It is the same problem. They don’t appear in their original dimension and they only look good if you zoom them.
