  I have deleted images in the media library but some remain in google image search results. What’s the process for complete image removal? Is there a prolonged delay in final removal from WordPress servers?

  Google caches everything and it can take a few months for them to clear their cache so your images will remain until then. You can try using the Google Webmaster URL removal tool. In my own experience, Google hang onto deleted images a heck of a lot longer than deleted posts.

  Doesn’t matter if they’re gone from WP. Once they’re cached by search engines they’ll probably never be completely gone from the web.

  Websites that have been down for years are still available in web archives.
