Image resizing

  Hi
  I am (1) clicking on the pencil icon on an image to go to Image Details; (2) selecting Custom Size under Display Settings, Size and (3) making an image smaller. However, the image does not change in accordance with the new smaller size I entered. Instead it changes the aspect ratio (in this case it looks taller and slightly thinner). Is there a problem in the WordPress.com image resizing system, or am I doing something wrong?
  Or is there a code I can put in the Custom CSS (which I already have) to automatically make all images a certain width? In my case I want them all to take the whole distance between the right and left margins of the blog.

  Changes have been made to the images editor. Have you checked the support documentation for image editing? http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-editing/#resizing
