Image shown when share post
-
Is there a way I can control what image is shown when I share my post to sites such as Facebook? I have three images in my post. The first I did set as featured thinking that would do it. But that’s still not the image shown when I share the post. It’s another image appearing. I do not want others to see that image unless the click the link to read the full post.
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

Hi There,
Keegan here, I would be happy to help.
I believe its because the image you are using for your featured image is too small. Facebook requires at least 480×480 pixels in both width and height. Your current is 500×280 which is not wide enough.
Try updating the featured image to a larger image.
After updating to a larger featured image, if it still shows the wrong image you may have update Facebooks cache of your post by following these steps.
1. Go to Facebooks debug tool – http://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
2. Paste your posts link in the box
3. Click “Debug” and then “Scrape Again”Please let me know if this works for you!

Correction, your image is 500×283, which means it’s not tall enough, it is wide enough.
Facebook requires 480×480, width X height

In the Eighties theme Featured Images are 1000 wide by unlimited height. Unless you set a featured image of that size it will not display.
https://wordpress.com/theme/eightiesWe have no control over what is displayed by social l networks like the images that Twitter, Facebook or any other social networks chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. We really only send them the URL of the post, and they hunt through that for the excerpt and images to include.
