Image shows up in editor, but not in published blog post

Hi. I was reviewing an old blog post that I did, because I wanted to link to it from a new one, since its referencing material I had previously posted about.

There’s a picture on it that’s not showing up. When I go to the editor, it appears normally, but the published post has a little icon with the image name instead. The other images on the page appear normally.

Here’s the page in question. The image should show major 7th chords (for my bass blog). Its about 3/4 of the way down in the section titled “How to play 7ths”.

    The Major Scale and Chords

Thanks for any help in advance!

    It appears you fixed this.

When an image goes “missing” it is usually because the link to the image is broken somehow, like it should be pretty-ball.jpg and a slip of the finger in editing made it petty-ball.jpg.

    Hi Lorelle,

Its not fixed. I just checked and its still not appearing in the post. I closed out Internet Explorer, cleared the temp files, etc. and then tried again, but it has the same problem. What’s even stranger to me is that if you click on the image name, it goes to the right image.

I just tested in Chrome as well. Its the same there, although the icon that represents the missing image is different. Clicking it also takes me to the correct image. I don’t understand why its not showing up onscreen.

    @ vishalicious,

You’ve got four images displayed on the page titled The Major Scale and Chords. The third image, under the subheading “How to play 7ths:” is https://uglybass.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/chord-major-7th.jpg. Is that the one you’re referring to?

What’s even stranger to me is that if you click on the image name, it goes to the right image.

That indicates a browser issue. The image is there, but the browser is not displaying it properly. You might have to update the browsers.

    Hi Musicdoc1,

Yes, that’s the image. Its no different from the others on that page either. They’re just JPGs of screenshots from Notepad or Word that I took about 4 years ago.

My IE version is 11.0.9600.17501 and Chrome is 40.0.2214.115. To my knowledge, these are current versions, and are definitely newer than what I was using when I wrote that blog entry in 2011.

    Hi.
I don’t know what to tell you. I saw the image and I’m using an ancient, dysfunctional, spare PC because my better ancient PC had a burn out a few days back.

You could try viewing the same page on another PC. If it’s visible, using the same browsers on another PC, or device, then you’ll know the issue is local. The fact that I can view it without difficulty suggests that it’s not a problem with the theme. It also suggests that it’s not a WordPress issue, though not necessarily. WordPress doesn’t work the same with every browser. Sometimes there are compatibility issues, particularly when new versions of a browser come out. But I’m speculating.

You may call for Staff attention by adding a “modlook” tag to the sidebar here.
