  How do I decrease the size of images so that they take up less space? Can this be done to images already added? Please explain. Thank you.

  Hi, you can adjust image sizes in a post by clicking on the image and clicking on the – or + icons, shown here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/

  If you want to resize the images in your media library go to your wp-admin dashboard (yoururl.wordpress.com/wp-admin — change yoururl to your site name), click on Media, select the image you want to resize, click Edit, and update the image dimensions.   I scaled down numerous images to less than 1/2 of the original size, but no more available space is shown. What am I doing wrong? also is there a way that when I upload an image that it automatically uploads to a designated size? I am trying to save on the allotted 3GB space.
