Image Size Problems

I can only get my images at a certain width, I am unsure if this has something to do with the blog template I have chosen or something else. I end up having to shrink all of my images down so they do not stretch.

In the post linked above, I am showing an editorial page which I 1) cannot get any bigger and 2) when left at it’s original size, it’s elongated.

I have made the adjustments in my Media preferences. I think at the moment medium width is set at 800 and large at 1000. But it hasn’t made a difference.

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!

The distortion is a defect of the theme you’re using, but the width restriction isn’t. All themes have a maximum allowed width (in yours it is 450px). No matter what you set in the media settings, the “Full size” option of the uploader means that maximum, not real size. You can force a real size display by changing the html code, but there’s no point in doing that in fixed-width themes: if the image is wider than your main posts area, then (depending on the theme) it will either flow past the right border or display partially (up to the border). What you must do is either upload and insert properly resized copies of your images, or upload your full size ones, properly resize them via the uploader, and have them link to the originals when clicked.
